Candidates Submit Nomination Papers for Municipal Election

The deadline to submit nomination papers for the municipal election passed last week, according to town officials.

Twenty-two residents of Woburn submitted nomination papers for elected positions in this year’s municipal election.

The mayor, all aldermen at large, all ward aldermen and five school committee member offices are open for election in 2015, according to the City of Woburn.

The final election will be Tuesday, November 3. If necessary, a preliminary election will be held for specific offices on August 25.

According to the City of Woburn, a preliminary election will be held for Mayor if there are at least three candidates, for Alderman-At-Large if there are at least five candidates, for a Ward Alderman if there are at least three candidates in the ward and for School Committee if there are at least eleven candidates.

The following Woburn residents submitted nomination papers prior to the July 7 deadline:

  • Incumbent Mayor Scott D. Galvin was the only person to submit nomination papers for city mayor. He will be running unopposed, unless there is a write-in campaign of consequence.
  • Michael P. Concannon and Richard M. Haggerty submitted nomination papers for Alderman At Large.
  • Lisa McGonagle, Paul L. Paris, Kevin C. Meaney and Joanne E. Campbell submitted papers for Alderman Ward One.
  • Richard F. Gately Jr., for Alderman Ward Two.
  • Mark E. Gaffney, for Alderman Ward Three.
  • Michael Dean Anderson, for Alderman Ward Four.
  • Darlene Mercer-Bruen, for Alderman Ward Five.
  • John Paladino and Edward Tedesco submitted nomination papers for Alderman Ward Six.
  • Paul H. Greene, Lindsay E. Higgins and Charles Viola submitted papers for Alderman Ward Seven.
  • Ellen Crowley, Joseph Demers, Christopher T. Kisiel, Samantha Anne Lochrie, Frederick J. Metters and John M. Wells submitted nomination papers for the school committee.
