Elderly Woman's Purse Stolen While Grocery Shopping

On Monday, Jan. 6, at about 10:38 a.m., dispatch received a call from a Medford resident who said her purse was stolen while at Market Basket in Woburn.

The elderly woman said while shopping she noticed that her purse was missing from the carriage. She went to the service desk, and was able to speak with the manager who said that the purse had been returned by the time she reached the desk.

Upon further inspection, however, the woman said she found that she was missing her credit card, social security card, and medicare card.

The manager said he was able to locate surveillance video of the incident.

Additional Incident

On Monday, Jan. 6, police were called to Westgate Drive on a report of slashed tires on a motor vehicle.

Police were met by the reporting party, who said that someone slashed her two driver's side tires on her Toyota Rav 4. 

The woman had the vehicle towed, and it cost her $400 to have the tires fixed.
