POLICE LOG: Daily Times Newspaper Box Stolen

Featured Call of the Day:

July 13 – At 4:04 p.m., an employee of the Woburn Daily Times reported the theft of a newspaper dispenser from in front of the post office. According to police, the newspaper box was there on Thursday afternoon when it was filled with the daily paper. About $75 in change was in the machine. The box is a blue coin-operated dispenser with the Woburn Daily Times inscribed on it.

July 13 –

At 8:58 a.m., police responded to a business for a report of a threat. According to police, a man entered the business and began threatening the operations manager, saying that he was a “kickboxer” and “knew martial arts.” Police spoke to the man, who said he was “frustrated” by the delay in his appointment. Police issued a no trespass order to the man.

At 9:42 a.m., a Grant Street resident reported her car damaged while it was parked on the street overnight.

At 10:41 a.m., a woman reported a theft of cash from an elderly woman. According to police, the woman said cash was stolen from the elderly woman’s safe sometime between July 3 and 10.

At 10:53 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Main and Stoddard streets. According to police, one driver slowed for traffic and was hit from behind. The other driver told police he was following the car too closely and was unable to stop.

At 12:18 p.m., police and fire responded to the Horn Pond Water Treatment facility for a report of . According to police, two men were cutting a pipe when they became caught in between the pipes. Both men were pinned for about five minutes, said police. They were transported to the hospital.

At 6:09 p.m., a caller reported two women fighting outside the Family Dollar store on Main Street. According to police, a woman was found in her car, upset and bleeding from the head. The woman accepted an ice pack, but refused further medical treatment. Police spoke to the woman, who said she was jumped by a friend after arguing over drugs.

At 7:17 p.m., police responded to a crash at Pleasant and Beacon streets. According to police, a motorcycle struck a car while both were turning onto Beacon. There were no reported injuries.

At 11:25 p.m., police were dispatched to a home for a report of a missing teenager. According to police, a woman returned home and found her son burning photos of himself. The teen left the home and the woman called police, concerned for his safety. Police found the teen at Leland Park and he said he would come home. Police spoke to the teen and his mother together and both stated they would be fine for the rest of the night.

July 14 –

At 2:27 p.m., police responded to a report of teens fighting on Everett Street. According to police, an officer was waved down by concerned citizens who saw the fight on Everett. A victim approached police and said he was chased in his car by three or four people, and one began to punch him through an open window. Police are investigating.

At 2:29 p.m., police were dispatched to the Kraft Foods plant on Hill Street for a report of a fire. According to police, there was no one working at the time of the fire and contractors had left the area. Woburn Fire and other departments responded to the scene and . There was no further information on the cause of the fire or the amount of damage, said police.

At 7:16 p.m., a woman reported a man threatened her outside her home. According to police, the two argued over issues regarding the woman’s son and she said the man threatened her. Police spoke to the man, who denied making the threat, but told police he would stay away from her.

July 15 –

At 1:30 p.m., a Wakefield man reported several items stolen from his Olympia Avenue storage container, including over 1,000 vinyl records. The LPs, a camera and an air conditioner unit were taken during the last five or six months, said police.

At 2:28 p.m., a Tewksbury man reported his car stolen from the Mini Mart on Main Street. According to police, the man told the officer he went into the store to play Keno and realized after 30 minutes that he did not have his car keys. He went to the parking lot to check his car for the keys and saw that his car had been stolen. The car is a 2004 Chevy Impala, said police.

July 16 –

At 12:09 a.m., police assisted a citizen outside of the Reeves School. The person was brought to a friend’s apartment for the night.

At 12:57 a.m., a Woburn man reported he was assaulted inside his home. According to police, the man was unable to name the two men who assaulted him, but said one was a neighboring tenant. Police brought the man to a friend’s house for the night. Police were unable to find the two suspects.
