POLICE LOG: Man Arrested After Bank Robbery

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Featured Call of the Day:

June 27 – At 4:25 p.m., police responded to a 911 report of a bank robbery at the Northern Bank and Trust on Main Street. According to police, witnesses described the subject. The suspect had reportedly crashed his car on Central Street, near Grape Street, and fled the area on foot. An officer working a detail located the man on Montvale Avenue. Michael Kimball, 34, of 252 Medford St. Apt. #309 in Somerville, was arrested and charged with armed robbery (subsequent offense), leaving the scene of an accident and an outstanding warrant for unarmed robbery.

June 27 –

At 10:42 a.m., police responded to a chain-reaction accident involving four cars on Montvale Avenue near Central Street. According to police, one driver looked down at her radio which caused the four-car pile-up. The driver was issued a citation for failure to use care and caution.

At 11:03 a.m., a woman reported a man took photos of her children while they were playing in the yard. Police spoke to the man, who said he took the photo because the kids were in his yard and weren’t supposed to be there. Police asked the man to delete the photo and no longer take pictures of the children. Police found the common area where children could play and informed the woman of the boundaries. All of the neighbors told police they were OK with the kids retrieving toys from their yard, but wanted them to stay in the common area.

At 12:05 p.m., police were dispatched to Wildwood Street for a report of car damage. According to police, a truck driver accidentally dropped a piece of plywood on a car while operating a dump truck. The car had slight damage. The people exchanged papers with police present.  

At 2:30 p.m., police were called to Duren Avenue for a report of a car striking a parked car.

At 5:41 p.m., a Woburn man reported someone fraudulently created a Verizon account using his personal information.

At 6:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian accident on Washington Street. According to police, the driver reported he could not stop in time for the pedestrian. The victim rolled onto the hood and onto the ground, but refused medical treatment. The driver was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

At 7:59 p.m., police responded to a break-in alarm on Gately Drive. Police found that a basement window had been broken, but no one had gained access. Police and the homeowner looked around and found a ball near the window. Police believe that the ball broke the window and it was not an attempted break-in.

At 9:10 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious vehicle backed up to a dumpster at a Merrimac Street business. According to police, officers detained the vehicle and a representative of the business checked what was inside. Nothing was reported stolen. However, police noted that an item inside the truck could belong to a construction business. Police asked the driver to return the item.

At 10:36 p.m., a police officer driving on Campbell Street reported hearing yelling coming from a home. The officer parked the cruiser, approached the house and spoke to a woman who was yelling into the home. According to police, the woman said that someone inside the home stole her son’s iPhone earlier and she was trying to get it back. Police searched the occupants of the home and did not find the iPhone.
