POLICE LOG: Man Jumped By Men Living on Tracks

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

July 31 – At 7:46 p.m., a Woburn firefighter called police and requested assistance at the Main/Hudson streets fire station. According to police, firefighters were tending to a citizen who walked to the station and said he had been “jumped” by three male parties along the train tracks behind Walgreens. The man told police the three men were living on the tracks and assaulted him, throwing punches and dragging him to the ground. One of the men pulled the other two off of the victim, who ran to the fire station for help. Police found the three men, who said that the victim had stopped to talk to them and has hung out with them before. The victim and one of the men got into an argument and began fighting, said witnesses. Police said all of the men involved were under the influence of alcohol. Police asked the men who were living on the tracks to move along, and also sent the victim home.

July 31 –

At 11:31 a.m., a Main Street man reported his apartment door had been kicked in by an unknown person. According to police, the man said he had walked to the liquor store to have a few shots for lunch. When he returned, he found the door kicked in, but nothing taken. Witnesses in the area said an overweight white woman in her 40s with gray in her hair entered the building around that time and left quickly.

At 2:06 p.m., police responded to a report of a sudden death on Nichols Street Extension. According to police, a witness found the woman lying on the hallway in her apartment. Police and fire determined the elderly woman had passed away of natural causes.

At 3:34 p.m., a Garden Street man reported his home broken into earlier in the day. According to police, one of the doors to the home, along with the deadbolt and lock, was damaged. The resident told police that a laptop and charger left near the door was stolen.

At 3:34 p.m., a Woburn woman reported that her car was damaged while parked in the Four Corners Musto building lot. An unknown person left a note on the car describing the suspect vehicle.

At 4:26 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Burlington Street at Harrison Avenue. There were no reported injuries.

At 5:39 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident at the Route 128/38 rotary. According to police, one car rear-ended another. There were no reported injuries. One driver was cited for failure to stop/yield.

August 1 –

At 7:54 a.m., police assisted a citizen on Wildwood Avenue.
