POLICE LOG: Yet Another Case of Fraudulent Filing of Tax Returns

At 10:43 a.m. police responded to Vernon Street residence for a call of identify theft. Police spoke to the victim who said she had received notice from the Internal Revenue Service that someone had filed her tax return. The IRS said they had flagged the returns since it was over $5,000 and as to be deposited in the University Bank in Minnesota.
The victim was the same person who had her identity stolen by a paperboy and her account had been compromised with a $6,500 transfer to her checking account.

At 9:31 p.m. a police officer at the Dunkin Donuts at 409 Main Street was asked by an employee to check the veracity of a $20 bill used by a frequent customer to make a purchase. The officer believed the bill was counterfeit and took it as evidence.
