Will Elizabeth Warren Crack Open A Beer During The Debate?

Think political debates are boring? An online gambling company will let you bet on likely (and unlikely) scenarios in next week's debates.

Bovada is taking debate-related bets, including bets on how many times President Trump will tweet on July 30.

BOSTON, MA — When Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) cracked a beer in a New Year's Eve Instagram video announcing her run for president, the move was debated for weeks on end in the political press. Less debated is whether Warren will repeat the beer cracking on stage in Detroit next week, when she and nine other Democrats vying for the party's presidential nomination will participate in the second round of debates. But if you're convinced she'll open a beer, now's your chance to get rich.

That's because Bovada will pay $1,100 on $100 bet if Warren cracks a beer on stage next week (you can also bet $5,000 to win $100 if Warren does not crack a beer). The debates follow last month's debates in Miami and will feature the 20-leading Democrats debating in groups of ten over two nights. But Bovada isn't just taking bets on whether Warren will crack a beer.

Among the other bets you can place on Bovada:

  • The over/under for the number of times President Trump will tweet on July 30 is 12.5. Bet $200 to win $100 if you think he will be over that number, or $100 to win $150 if you think he will keep the number of social media missives under that number.
  • How many times will Joe Biden mention "Obama?" If you think it's more than three, bet $100 to win $140. If you think it's under three, bet $180 to win $100 (you can also wager on whether Biden will hug any of the other candidates on camera).
  • If you think more than two candidates will speak Spanish during the debates, bet $100 to win $250. If you think its under two, you can bet $400 to win $100 (you can also place a separate wager on whether Beto O'Rourke will speak Spanish during the debates).

You can view the complete list of wagers on Bovada's Website, keeping in mind that Massachusetts and most other states have not legalized online gambling.
