Woburn 2023 Election: Concannon Defeats Galvin In Mayoral Race

Here are the unofficial results for these races: Mayor, Councilor At Large, School Committee and Councilor in all Wards.

WOBURN, MA — City Council President Mike Concannon has defeated longtime Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin in the race for mayor, according to unofficial results released Tuesday.

Concannon received 5,522 votes, while Gavin, who was running for an eighth term, received 4,139 votes according to unofficial totals.

"I am grateful for the support of the voters of Woburn and I look forward to serving as our city's next mayor," Concannon told Patch. "I extend my thanks to my wife and my family as well as my incredible campaign team who all worked so hard on my behalf.

"I offer my sincere appreciation to Mayor Scott Galvin for his service to our city and I look forward to a smooth transition over the next two months. I also offer my best wishes to Scott and Eileen and their family."

In the Sept. 5 preliminary election, Concannon had earned the most votes (2,535), ahead of Galvin (1,760 votes) and Omar Mohuddin (993 votes). The top two vote-getters advanced to Tuesday's election.

Concannon has served as a councilor at large on the Woburn City Council for 10 years and City Council president for the last two years.
