Woburn City Council Approves Lahey Drive-Thru Testing Site

The drive-thru site at 8 Presidential Way will only offer tests to those with doctor's orders.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn City Council approved Lahey Hospital and Medical Center's request to set up a drive-thru testing site in the city, at their recent meeting.

The site will be at 8 Presidential Way, a Lahey IT office since 2017. Staff at the office have been working remotely since the pandemic began.

The council voted unanimously, with Alderman Darlene Mercer-Bruen recused, to approve the hospital's special permit request, Nov. 10. The council granted a one-year permit, with a number of conditions set by the Planning Board.

The testing site will require a doctor's order, rather than being open to anyone who drives up. It will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lahey has not announced an opening date for the testing site.
