Woburn Resident Earns Academic Achievement Award at Stonehill College

Robert Smith, of Woburn, was one of 53 Stonehill College student-athletes to be recently recognized with Academic Achievement Awards from the Division II Athletic Directors Association.

To earn this recognition, student-athletes from Division II ADA member institutions must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, completed at least four semesters and be an active member of their team during the previous academic year. Smith is a member of the men’s track and field team.

Smith is graduate of Woburn Memorial High School and a member of the college’s men’s track and field team. Smith earned four All-Region awards over his career for outdoor track and six career honors overall.

The 53 Stonehill student-athletes honored represent 17 athletic programs. The women’s soccer and women’s track and field teams both led the way with eight honorees each, while the women’s lacrosse team had five student-athletes earn recognition and the equestrian team was close behind with five.

Stonehill’s total of 53 is the fourth-highest among Northeast-10 Conference institutions.
