Woburn Restaurant Employee Sentenced For Transferring False ID Docs

A former restaurant employee was sentenced for providing false identification documents to Brazilian employees who lacked documentation.

WOBURN, MA — A Salvadoran man and former employee of the Taste of Brazil in Woburn was sentenced for providing false identification documents to Brazilian employees who lacked work authorization, according to a statement from federal prosecutors.

Marcos Chacon Gil, 29, pleaded guilty in May to one count of transferring false identification documents. He was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Monday to time served after spending about 10 months in prison. He was also sentenced to two years of supervised release.

Chacon Gil began working at Taste of Brazil in 2014. In 2018, he provided false identification documents to Brazilian employees of the restaurant who lacked work authorization in the United States, prosecutors said.

Chacon Gil did this so the employees could secure work authorization. In one instance, Chacon Gil provided an employee with a fake green card and a fake social security card, according to prosecutors.
