2 Sisters Missing After ICE Detained Mother In Worcester: Report

WORCESTER, MA — Two sisters whose mother was taken into ICE custody in May have been reported missing, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

Nayara Ferreira De Moura, 17, and her sister Karoline Ferreira de Moura, 13, are missing, according to the Worcester police department and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Globe reports that Nayara was last seen on June 5 in Lancaster, while Karoline was last seen in DCF custody on July 20.

Police are actively searching for both siblings, according to the Globe.

On May 8, their mother, Rosane Ferreira de Oliveira, 40, was detained in a chaotic ICE arrest on Eureka Street. The Globe reports that Nayara was arrested when she rushed in front of the law enforcement vehicle with her mother inside.

Ferreira de Oliveira’s charges were dismissed earlier this week, but she remains in ICE custody in New Hampshire, according to the Globe.

Ferreira de Oliveira’s attorney, Juan C. Congote, confirmed to the Boston Globe that Karoline is her daughter.
