Burglars Break Into House, Take Cash Saved For Dog's Cancer
Worcester PD is looking for suspects who allegedly broke into a home and took belongings, including money to be used for Prince the dog.

WORCESTER, MA—While the burglars thankfully didn't steal the dog, they took the money his owner had saved to keep him alive, according to several reports.
According to surveillance, an SUV is seen stopping at Melissa Hortsman's home in Worcester on Thursday night. Burglars smash the rear door, where her dog Prince slept and was too sick to get up to scare them, reports WCVB-TV.
The thieves took some speakers, jewelry and more than $1,000 in cash, which Hortsman said was for Prince's bone cancer surgery. "I don't want to lose my dog," Hortsman told WCVB. "I've had him since he was a baby."

Prince is eight years old, and the money was to be used to amputate his leg and also pay for pain medication, said WHDH-TV.
A friend has started a GoFundMe fundraising page to raise money for Prince's surgery, which has already hit $15,000, $10,000 over the goal.
