WORCESTER, MA - Jeffrey Lurie, a businessman, movie producer, billionaire and majority owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, has been linked to potentially buying a major stake in the Boston Celtics.

The Ringer's Bill Simmons, a major podcaster for Spotify and formerly known as "Boston Sports Guy" from his ESPN days, has alluded to major developments like this before. Now, Lurie, an alumnus of Clark University, is being linked to the impending purchase of the Boston Celtics.

The Grousbeck family, the current majority owners of the Celtics, are reportedly expecting a massive valuation. Somewhere over $6 billion, to be precise. Lurie has a net worth of around $5 billion, according to Forbes.

The sale comes on the heels of the Celtics winning their long-sought "Banner 18" after a dominant NBA Finals series over the Dallas Mavericks. Though the Celtics have had a bumpy ride this season, they remain one of the premier basketball teams and a tantalizing investment.

Lurie's Philadelphia Eagles have made their second Super Bowl run in just three years. On Feb. 9 they'll face off in a rematch from 2023 against the Kansas City Chiefs. In their first game, the Eagles lost 38-35.

In an article from 2018 by MassLive, Clark University allegedly said Lurie was once interested in buying the New England Patriots. He was outbid by Robert Kraft, and the rest was history.
