Cornerstone Bank, Athol Savings Bank Finalize Merger
The merger became effective last month.
WORCESTER, MA — Two Massachusetts banks have officially merged, the businesses announced Monday.
The merger of Cornerstone Bank and Athol Savings Bank became effective Dec. 31, uniting the two institutions. Athol Savings Banks is now a division of Cornerstone Bank, which has served Worcester County since 2017.
Daniel J. Zona, former president and CEO of Athol Savings Bank, has stepped into the role as president of Cornerstone Bank. He will succeed the retiring Randal Webber.

The Cornerstone Bank Board of Directors has also expanded to include four new members.
All Athol Savings Bank employees have been retained, according to a news release. The banks will align their systems, while customers will gain expanded access to digital banking tools, financial planning resources, and new product offerings.

The five branch locations will also remain open in the North Quabbin region. That includes locations in Ashburnham, Athol, Barre, Garner and Winchendon.
