DCR Pools In Worcester Opening For 2023 Summer Season

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation will open 23 pools across the state Saturday, including two in Worcester.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester's summer swimming options will expand this weekend when the state Department of Conservation and Recreation opens its two pools here for the season.

DCR is opening all 23 state-run pools Saturday with daily hours from 11:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The pools will be open until Aug. 20.

Worcester's two DCR pools are the Bennett Field Pool near Webster Square along Main Street and the Dennis F. Shine Memorial Pool at Vernon Hill Park.

DCR previously opened its two Lake Quinsigamond swimming areas — Regatta Point and Lake Park — on May 27. Both of those swimming areas will have lifeguard coverage through the summer, although Regatta Point coverage will end after Labor Day and the Lake Park's will end on Aug. 20.

Worcester's city beaches, pools and splash pads are expected to officially open on June 30. Those areas include Bell Pond Beach, East Park spray park, the Crompton Park Pool, Greenwood Park spray park, Indian Lake beach, Binienda Memorial Beach and Shore Park Beach.
