Worcester Area Programs Get $28K For Outdoor Recreation Events
New England Botanic Garden, Girls Inc. of Worcester, and the Webster Waterski Collective were granted funding.
WORCESTER, MA — Three programs in and around Worcester received a total of $28,400 in state funding.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced Tuesday, nearly $190,000 in Inclusive and Accessible Event grants to 19 organizations and municipalities across Massachusetts. New England Botanic Garden, Girls Inc. of Worcester, and the Webster Waterski Collective were granted funding.
The grants are meant to improve access to outdoor recreational activities for low-income residents, communities of color, and people with disabilities.

New England Botanic Garden, an organization dedicated to making nature accessible, was awarded $10,000 for two initiatives.
One is Barbara's Bus, which offsets transportation costs for schools from low-income communities, and the other is Project Bloom, which delivers free, nature-based workshops for youth from under-resourced communities in Greater Worcester.

Girls Inc. of Worcester was also awarded $10,000 to put toward Ripple Effect: Family Water Safety and Access Initiative. The program will engage 85 kids and caregivers through water education, including water safety workshops, six-week swim lessons, and hands-on training with kayaks and paddleboards.
The Webster Waterski Collective was awarded $8,400 to expand its Adaptive Water Ski Program. The organization plans multiple events at lakes all over Worcester County.
