Even The Boston Celtics Have Trouble Pronouncing 'Worcester'
During a mid-game break in TD Garden last night, the Boston Celtics tried their hand at pronouncing "Worcester." Results...varied.

WORCESTER, MA - If you're from Worcester, you've probably heard someone butcher the city's pronunciation in hilarious fashion.
The reigning NBA champions are not exempt from such mishaps.
At last night's game in TD Garden against the Chicago Bulls, one of the mid-game pauses featured players grilled on pronouncing "Worcester."

"Wast-er," said Derrick White, the fan-favorite transplant from the San Antonio Spurs. White quickly corrected himself, nailing the city's name at the eleventh hour.
Al Horford, the big man who's played in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Oklahoma City, put a little more emphasis on the "woo," but it was still an admirable effort.

Sam Hauser, the backup center, bravely admitted he used to think it was "Wor-chester." Several non-Worcester natives can likely relate.
MVP-candidate Jayson Tatum and Sixth Man of the Year favorite Payton Pritchard both nailed their pronunciations, while Jrue Holiday waved the white flag.
Although Luke Kornet is a Kentucky native, he flawlessly reminded the TD Garden crowd that the "o-r-c" makes an "ooh" sound. See the full video posted to X at this link here.
NBA championships are built on the hardwood court, not the fields of pronunciation. While the Celtics delighted the crowd with their minor mishaps, they had no issue spelling doom for their competition. They beat the Bulls that night 122-100 and improved to 33-15 on the season.
