Homeowner Spots Alleged Robber On Security Camera, Calls Police

The man allegedly stole electronic items from the house, and a backpack to carry them out in.

WORCESTER, MA—A man is facing breaking and entering charges after a homeowner allegedly saw him in the house on a security camera.

Police responded around 11:45 a.m. to a Brantwood Road home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, where a breaking and entering was reportedly happening.

The homeowner called police after seeing a person inside his home on a security camera while at another location. An officer went to the back of the house and spotted the rear sliding door open, then saw a man about to head out of the home while carrying a backpack.

Police ordered him to the ground, but the man resisted and had to be taken down and put into handcuffs. A K9 did a sweep of the home, but found no other suspects.

The homeowner arrived at the scene and showed police the footage, and also said that not only had the man taken items from the home, but the backpack he put them in was stolen, too, said police. Electronic items were inside the backpack.

Timothy Hammond, 40, Wrentham Road, Worcester, was charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to commit a Felony, Larceny in a Building and Resisting Arrest.

Hammond will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
