This Local Congressman Endorsed Sen. Ed Markey For Reelection

WORCESTER, MA — A local congressman has announced that he will back a Massachusetts senator in his bid for reelection.

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Worcester) recently announced that he will back Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in the upcoming November election. In an endorsement video released on Wednesday, the congressman cited Sen. Markey's commitment to working families in Central Massachusetts.

The two politicians, who have worked together for more than 15 years, have partnered on legislation a number of times, according to a news release. Recently, they traveled together to meet Rümeysa Öztürk, the Tufts University student who was detained by ICE earlier this year.

"I've known Ed for many years, and there is no better fighter in the Senate, especially right now for Massachusetts," said Rep. McGovern in his endorsement. "And there are a few people who have delivered more for Worcester and for Central Massachusetts, for our working families, and for our students and children, and for our cities and towns."
