New Poll Suggests How Worcester Residents Feel About Police
The Worcester Chamber of Commerce released its 2025 survey.

WORCESTER, MA — A new survey suggests the sentiments of Worcester residents regarding public safety.
A majority of residents in Worcester say that Worcester police "do a great job." This year's survey from the Worcester Chamber of Commerce suggests that 63% agree with this, and 23% disagree.
In a 2023 survey, crime and the cost of living topped Worcester residents' worries.

But now, when asked where city councilors should focus their efforts, 31% of Worcester voters say jobs, 27% favor a focus on neighborhood and municipal issues and 23% prioritize housing, according to the survey.
This comes a month after the city launched resources after a scathing government report cited police department misconduct.

In December 2024, the Department of Justice found that the Worcester Police Department used excessive force, engaged in racial discrimination and committed illegal sex acts against women.
