'Rolling Rally' In Worcester Celebrates North High Basketball Champs

The North High School Division 1 champions defeated Needham over the weekend in Lowell.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester will celebrate its basketball champions from North High School with a parade and rally on Sunday.

The "rolling rally" for the North High School Polar Bears basketball team will begin at the school Sunday afternoon and conclude at Polar Park with a party.

North High won the Division 1 championship Sunday in Lowell, defeating Needham High School 73-64. It was the first time a city public high school won a Division 1 championship.

The rally will depart North High School at 1 p.m. Sunday with the basketball team riding in a duck boat. The rally will stop at Plumley Village before ending at Kelley Square.

The North High School Polar Bears finished the season with a 24-2 record under coach Al Pettway. That record includes a 21-game winning street to close out the historic season.
