UMass Memorial Medical Center Has New Chief of Cardiac Surgery
He brings years of experience as a surgeon.

WORCESTER, MA — UMass Memorial Health announced the appointment of Dr. James Barnard as Chief of Cardiac Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Barnard has years of experience as a surgeon and extensive expertise across the spectrum of adult cardiac surgery, according to the healthcare system.

He joins the hospital from Manchester University Foundation NHS Trust, Wythenshawe Hospital in the United Kingdom (U.K.), the regional center for cardiac surgery and transplantation serving the northwest of England.

He received his education from St. Andrews and Manchester Universities in the U.K., as well as completing an advanced fellowship as the National Fellow in Heart and Lung Transplantation at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge in England.
