Woman Killed In Motorcycle Crash On I-290 On Ramp: Worcester PD

The fatal crash happened on Tuesday morning.

WORCESTER, MA—One woman is dead after a motorcycle and vehicle crash in Worcester late Tuesday morning.

On May 29 at approximately 10:26 a.m., Worcester Police responded to the intersection of Plantation Street and the I-290 westbound on ramp for a serious motorcycle and motor vehicle crash. A 31-year-old woman was suffering from serious injuries, with several motorists stopped at the crash scene trying to help her.

After Worcester's EMS and Fire Department arrived to give medical aid, the motorcycle operator was brought to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival. Her name is being held until all proper notifications have been made.

A 2003 Kawasaki ZR 1000 was headed southbound on Plantation Street when it collided into the passenger side front door of a 2001 Toyota Avalon, according to the investigation. The Avalon was being operated by a 79-year-old Worcester resident.

At the time of the collision, the Toyota was going north on Plantation Street and was turning left to enter onto the westbound I-290 on ramp.

This investigation is in the early stages and remains active. No citations have been issued at this time but may change as the investigation progresses.
