Worcester 2023 Movies On The Common: See The Full Schedule

WORCESTER, MA — The annual summer "Movies on the Common" series will begin this month, offering four free screenings for people of all ages, plus attractions like food, music and face-painting.

The movies series on the Worcester Common starts June 15 with the 2004 comedy "Napoleon Dynamite," and continues each month through September. The series is sponsored by the city and the Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District.

Each screening will feature pre-movie activities like standup comedy, caricature artists, music, face-painting and local food.

Here's the 2023 Movies on the Common lineup:

  • June 15, "Napoleon Dynamite" — Joining the evening's festivities is local comedian Tom Dwyer, co-creator of the new show "Hollywoo." The show’s trailer will be played for the first time ever before the movie.
  • July 20, "Turning Red" — In partnership with Worcester’s Accessibility Division and Accessibility Advisory Commission, and the Center for Living and Working, Movies on the Common proudly presents Turning Red, a heartwarming and empowering animated film about embracing individuality and overcoming obstacles.
  • Aug. 17, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" — Before the movie, get the inside scoop on the film’s scenes shot in Worcester with a special behind-the-scenes talk from Edgar Luna, Business Development Manager for the City of Worcester.
  • Sept. 21, "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" — The evening will include a special screening of the Clark University student film “Long Play,” written by Liv Wilde and Directed by Gyani Pradhan Wong Ah Sui.

Each event begins around 6:30 p.m. on the common behind Worcester City Hall. Attendees can bring chairs or a blanket. The first 100 get free popcorn, and the first 50 will get a free food/drink voucher for use at one of the on-site food vendors.
