Worcester Art Museum Celebrates Star Wars Themed Community Day

The Star Wars Community Day will take place on Apr. 15 for all Star Wars enthusiasts and will be held at Worcester Art Museum.

Worcester Art Museum:The Worcester Art Museum embraces the “Force” with a Star Wars-themed Community Day on Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 10am to 5pm. Visitors of all ages are invited to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars character and experience the Jedi code, costumes, and characters as the Museum celebrates a beloved galaxy from "far, far away" in the distant past.

There’s a galactic array of events planned, including light saber drop-in workshops, exploring armor for a real knight in the Museum’s Medieval Galleries, demonstrations comparing a Stormtrooper's armor to that of a Gothic knight, and captivating lightsaber battles. Different arms and armor components will be available to touch and try on.

The Community Day will also offer not-to-be-missed opportunities to learn the way of the “Force” with exciting demonstrations and information sharing from the Star Wars costumed re-enactors of the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion (http://www.501neg.com/commlink/), the Alderaan Base of the Rebel Alliance (www.alderaanbase.com), and the skilled martial artists of the Japanese Doshikai Kendo and Iaido Dojo (www.doshikai.org).
