Worcester Business Gets $1.5M to Create Jobs

It was part of more than $17 million in tax incentive awards announced by the Healey-Driscoll Administration on Thursday.

WORCESTER, MA — The Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center announced more than $17 million in tax incentive awards on Thursday.

AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company in Worcester, received $1,530,000 to create 60 new jobs. The company was among the 25 life science companies that received awards.

AbbVie is a global biopharmaceutical company that creates medicines for complex health issues in areas like immunology, oncology, neuroscience, eye care, aesthetics and other areas of unmet need.

“The breakthroughs happening here in Massachusetts don’t just strengthen our local innovation economy — they’re saving lives and changing the world,” said Governor Maura Healey. “These tax incentive awards build on that momentum and show why Massachusetts is the best place to innovate, work and grow.”
