This Worcester County Transportation Company Will Now Pay Over $1M to MA

The medical transportation company is accused of violating its contracts with multiple counties.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester County transportation company will now pay the state $1.045 million after a settlement was reached, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced on Wednesday.

Traveler's Transit is accused of violating its contracts with both Worcester and Bristol counties. Traveler’s provides non-emergency transportation services, including wheelchair and group transport, which are paid for by MassHealth and the Department of Developmental Services.

The company, which is based in Millville, allegedly combined or eliminated certain routes and submitted false claims for payment to MassHealth and DDS.

Traveler’s is also accused of failing to provide staff monitors on board their transportation options to make sure patients stayed safe.

“When companies violate our laws and defraud crucial state programs, taxpayer-funded resources are wasted and the integrity of our public programs are put at risk,” said Attorney General Campbell.
