The company and its administrator pleaded guilty in Worcester Superior Court.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester-based home care company defrauded MassHealth out of more than one million dollars, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Union Home Health Care Services and its administrator, Bernice Codija, pleaded guilty in Worcester Superior Court. The AGO said the company defrauded the state’s Medicaid program out of more than $1.6 million.

Codjia, 41, used fraudulent nursing assessments and forms to enroll MassHealth members and bill MassHealth for services that were not authorized, according to the attorney general. As a result, MassHealth paid Union nearly $1.6 million.
