Worcester Police Seek Suspect In Mother-Daughter Shooting Deaths
Worcester police arrested one person following the Tuesday afternoon shooting that killed Chasity Nunez and her daughter, Zella Nunez, 11.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police have arrested one person and are searching for a second following the double killing on Tuesday of Chasity Nunez and Zella Nunez, 11.
The mother and daughter were sitting in a car along Lisbon Street in the Columbus Park neighborhood around 3 p.m. Tuesday when someone in a vehicle fired dozens of shots at them. They died at a local hospital.
On Wednesday, police arrested Karol Mangual, 28, of Sterling Street, on charges of armed assault to murder and unlicensed possession of a gun. Police said Mangual will be arraigned imminently.

Meanwhile, police are searching for Deljan Belnavis, 27, to arrest him on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and unlicensed possession of a gun. Police said Belnavis could be armed, and anyone who sees him should call 911.

The deaths of Nunez and her daughter, a Worcester Public Schools student, sent shockwaves through the city on Wednesday. The school district was making counselors available for students.
