WORCESTER, MA —Worcester is seeking feedback from residents on a plan to remake a street that serves as a gateway to Crompton Park, with plans to incorporate the road into wider traffic recently completed across the neighborhood.

According to the city's plans, Endicott Street would be rebuilt to include two lanes for traffic, parallel parking on both sides of the street, new sidewalks and a two-way bike lane separated from the street.

The plans also call for a new plaza entrance to Crompton Park at Bigelow Street, new accommodations for handicapped access and planting 46 new trees along the street. Plans also call for new crosswalks and larger curbs at Bigelow Street.

Today, almost the entire length of Endicott Street along Crompton Park is taken up by perpendicular parking spots with a narrow sidewalk and a tall fence.

If completed, the bike and pedestrian improvements would connect Crompton Park to newer bike lanes along Quinsigamond Avenue and Millbury Street, which also connect to the Kelley Square area and the Segment 7 multi-use path along Francis J. McGrath Boulevard. Crompton Park is also home to a new skateboarding park near the corner of Endicott and Quinsigamond.
