WORCESTER, MA — Wednesday, Dec. 3, marks 26 years since the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse fire that killed six Worcester firefighters.

Lt. Thomas Spencer, Lt. Timothy Jackson Sr., Lt. James Lyons III, and firefighters Jeremiah Lucey, Paul Brotherton, and Joseph McGuirk, who are now known as the Worcester Six, died after being trapped in the blaze. The fire was started by two homeless people in the building on Dec. 3, 1999.

The former location of the Cold Storage and Warehouse building at 266 Franklin St. is now home to the Worcester Fire Department's Franklin Street station.
