Residents Asked To Stay Out Of Water During Algae Treatment In Worcester
There is currently no threat of harmful algae exposure.

WORCESTER, MA — Officials are taking steps this week to address water quality concerns at two of Worcester's popular bodies of water.
Coes Reservoir (Coes Pond) and Indian Lake will be treated for algae on Thursday. The city said there is no threat of harmful algae exposure and that the treatment is preventative.
Individuals should stay out of the water, discontinue boat use and keep pets away on the day of the treatment, according to the city.

This comes after dangerous bacteria were found in a nearby lake earlier this week.
The treatment will use copper sulfate algaecide to control the growth of harmful algae. It is a safe and effective method, according to the city's Department of Sustainability and Resilience.
