18 MI Beaches Closed, Under Contamination Advisories: Here's The List

MICHIGAN — A dozen Michigan beaches are closed and another six beaches are under a contamination advisory this weekend due to high bacteria levels.

The closures and advisories come amid great beach weather across Michigan where highs are expected to hit the upper 80s.

Here are the beaches that were under a contamination advisory as of Friday afternoon:

• Bald Mountain Recreation Area, Lower Trout Lake, Oakland County - CLOSED since due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
• Chassell Beach, Lake Superior, Houghton County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
• Dodge Park #4, Cass Lake, Oakland County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
• East Jordan Tourist Park, Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix County - contamination advisory due to high bacteria levels due to an unspecified source.
• Elm Point Beach, Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix County - contamination advisory due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
• Ferndale, Sylvan Lake, Oakland County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
• Four Mile Beach, St. Marys River, Chippewa County - contamination advisory due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
• Grove Street Beach, Cass Lake, Oakland County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
• Groveland Oaks County Park - Paradise Beach, Stewart Lake, Oakland County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
• Independence Lake County Park, Independence Lake, Washtenaw County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
• Lake Angela Co-Op, Lake Angela, Oakland County - CLOSED due to high bacteria levels from wildlife.
