2 Teens Arrested After Firing Shots At MI Officers During Foot Chase: Police
One of the teens is facing an attempted murder charge, according to police.
TRAVERSE CITY, MI — Two teens were arrested after firing shots at officers during a foot chase in northern Michigan over the weekend, according to police.
Officers were called at 10:07 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of East 8th Street in Traverse City on a report of a larceny from a vehicle, according to police.
They found two people matching a description of the suspects in a parking lot in the 100 block of Munson Avenue, according to police.

When officers made contact, police said the individuals ran away on foot. During the chase, a 17-year-old boy pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the pursuing officers, according to police.
One round struck an officer’s uniform pant leg, but the officer was not injured, according to police.

Officers eventually arrested the 17-year-old outside a nearby hotel. They also arrested an 18-year-old boy in connection with the incident, according to police.
Officers found the gun, which they believe was used in the shooting, outside the hotel, according to police.
Both teens, of Traverse City, were placed in jail. The 17-year-old faces attempted murder, larceny from an auto and resisting and obstructing charges. The 18-year-old faces larceny from an auto and resisting and obstructing charges.
