4 MI Metro Areas Among Best Places To Live In U.S., New Ranking Says

Metro's in the Midwest, including one in Michigan, dominated the list, claiming nine of the top 20 spots.

MICHIGAN — Four metro areas in Michigan are among the most "livable places" in the country, according to a new report based on factors such as cost of living, lifestyle amenities and community spirit.

Apartment search website Rent Cafe recently compiled the 20 most livable metro areas, and four in the Great Lake State made the cut.

The report analyzed 139 metro areas across 17 different metrics using data from the American Community Survey, Census Bureau and USDA, among other sources.

Ann Arbor was the highest-ranked area in Michigan included in the analysis.

The four metro areas that made the list include:

No.5 Ann Arbor

No. 40 Grand Rapids

No. 45 Lansing

No. 84 Detroit

Cities in the Midwest dominated the list, claiming nine of the top 20 spots, seven in the top 10 and four in the top five.
