SANDUSKY, OH — Cedar Point announced Wednesday that its next record-breaking coaster will open to the public this month.

"Siren’s Curse," which Cedar Point says is the tallest, fastest and longest 'tilt' roller coaster in North America, will open on Saturday, June 28.

The new ride will take riders up 160-feet on an old Lake Erie shipping crane tower and come to a dead stop on a "broken off" section of track. The platform will then tilt 90 degrees, forcing riders to look straight down on the drop.

Riders then "plunge into the abyss," speeding through 2,966 feet of track at a top speed of 58 miles per hour. The new ride also contains 13 weightless airtime moments, two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a high-speed "triple-down" element with twisted and overbanked track.

The coaster trains will hold 24 passengers with integrated audio and LED lighting, according to park officials.

The new coaster, inspired by the legend of mysterious creatures in Lake Erie and the sirens luring sailors to their capsizing, will be located across from the Iron Dragon suspended coaster near Cedar Point's marina. It will be the park's 19th coaster.
