Is The Grinch Real? Michigan’s Top Christmas Google Search

Christmas has officially arrived and Michigan apparently has Amazon on the mind. That’s according to a new report published this month by SatelliteInternet.com.

The authors said they gathered a list of popular Christmas-related internet searches and used Google Trends to match those searches with the states Googling them on Dec. 25, 2017.

And needless to say, the findings say a lot about each state.

Texans, for example, apparently think Dr. Seuss might have dipped into some nonfiction when he wasn’t writing “The Cat in the Hat.” The state’s most popular Google search on Christmas day was “Is the Grinch real?” We can help you out with that, Texas: no.

Ohio children must’ve been pretty naughty last year. (Either that or the adults have a dark sense of humor.) The state searched “Where to buy coal” most.

South Dakotans are just looking for some fun family activities to do this time of year, while Rhode Islanders seem to be feeling a little lonely and just want to find someone to love. The Ocean State’s top Christmas term: Tinder.

Lots of Americans appear eager to shed those holiday pounds, as “Planet Fitness hours” was the top search in three states. But the most popular search in America is obvious: “Amazon.com.”

“We’re guessing everyone was eyeing goodies to buy with their Amazon gift cards,” the authors wrote. “Or maybe they just wanted to return the ugly Christmas sweater their Great Aunt Bea got them?”
