Man Charged For Beating Woman During Attempted Sexual Assault

Police say the 35-year-old man dragged a woman into the bushes and punched her in the face when she refused to perform a sex act on him.

PONTIAC, MI — A 35-year-old Waterford Township man was arrested after he reportedly tried to sexually assault a woman in Pontiac and ended up punching her repeatedly in the face during the struggle.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Robert George McClintock is accused of grabbing a 50-year-old Pontiac woman from behind around midnight Jan. 14 in the 800 block of Baldwin Road. He allegedly dragged her into the bushes and demanded that she perform a sexual act on him, police said.

The woman reportedly refused and was held to the ground as the man began punching her in the face, according to the police report. The woman was able to break free from the man and fled, but she sustained injuries from the assault and was hospitalized, police said.

Police say that’s when McClintock fled on foot and took the woman’s cell phone with him. Using a physical description, police arrested McClintock for the assault after using a K9 to search the area.

McClintock has a lengthy criminal history, police said, dating back to 2001. Those charges include assault on a police officer in 2004, domestic assault in 2010, assault and battery in 2014 and possession of a controlled substance in 2017.

He was lodged in Oakland County Jail and given a $100,000 bond and ordered to have a GPS tether. He will return to court Jan. 22.
