Metro Detroit Man Arrested In Crash With Amish Buggy: Sheriff

Two of the buggy's passengers were injured in the crash, officials said.

GLADWIN COUNTY, MI — Two people were injured and one person has been arrested in a July 4 Michigan crash involving an Amish buggy, according to sheriff's officials.

The crash happened at 11:12 p.m. on July 4 on Wirtz Road near Nickless Road in Gladwin County, officials said.

Officials said a 22-year-old Livonia man was driving a 2019 Toyota 4Runner east on Wirtz Road when he smashed into the buggy.

Two of the buggy's passengers, a 16-year-old Amish boy and a 22-year-old Amish woman, were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital where they were in stable condition, officials said.

Officers arrested the Livonia man on suspicion of drunk driving, causing injury, officials said.
