This MI Island Is Among Nation's Best: Ranking

MICHIGAN — A popular Michigan travel spot was just named one of the best islands in the nation.

Travel + Leisure ranked Mackinac Island as the No. 3 best island in its list of best islands in the continental U.S. It's the fourth year the island has been among the top three islands on the list.

To determine its 2025 list, the national travel publication said it looked at its annual "World’s Best Awards" survey to see which U.S. islands had the best reviews, and that they would return to again and again.

The car-less island settled between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas offers plenty of opportunities for summer fun, including beaches, horse-drawn carriage and a beautiful 8-mile bike ride around the island.

There are also several museums and tours of Fort Mackinac, which is open all summer.
