This MI Place Is Top Biking Spot In Nation: Ranking

MICHIGAN — A popular biking magazine named a Michigan place the top spot for biking in the nation.

Mackinac Island topped the PeopleForBikes.com 2025 list of Best Places to Bike, earning a perfect 100 score. It's the first time the website has ever given out a perfect score.

To determine its ranking, the website says it scores nearly 3,000 cities based on their bike networks and their progress. They look at six factors, including safe speeds, protected bike lanes, reallocated space for biking and walking, intersection treatments, network connections and trusted data.

Biking is one of the more popular ways people get around on the island, since no motor vehicles are allowed. The island offers more than 70 trails, including an 8.2-mile path around the island. The path offers spectacular views of Lake Huron and historic sites, such as Arch Rock.
