This MI Public Square Is The Best In The Nation: Ranking

DETROIT — For the third straight year, Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit was picked the best public square in the nation by USA Today.

"Campus Martius Park is one of Detroit’s central gathering places. Locals and visitors alike can take in the skyline, people-watch around the Woodward Fountain, grab a meal from a food truck, or go ice skating in winter," the outlet said of Campus Martius.

Campus Martius opened in 2004 and has become a staple in downtown, as it draws millions of people from the Detroit area and around the world to the city. The park annually holds events, such as the Christmas Tree lighting, ice skating and the Detroit Jazz Festival. There is also a rotating line of food trucks during the summer.

Last year, the park held the NFL Draft and brought a record-breaking crowd of 775,000 people to the area over three days.
