This MI Town Among Best Small U.S. Cities For Food And Drink

This popular northern Michigan spot cracked Food and Wine's "Top Small US Cities for Food and Drink."

MICHIGAN — A Michigan town is among the 11 best small places across the nation for food and drink.

As part of Food and Wine’s 2025 Global Tastemakers awards, the magazine placed Traverse City as No. 10 on their "Top Small US Cities for Food and Drink" list.

The magazine praised the town's cherries, noting Traverse City is the "cherry capital of the world." They also deemed Traverse City an "agricultural paradise" that "yields wine grapes, hops, and grains that fuel a booming beverage culture."

"That abundance has drawn great kitchen talent and earned the area a reputation as a rising foodie hub," Wendy Pramik of Food and Wine said.

The magazine went on to cite popular Traverse City restaurants, including Farm Club, The Cooks’ House and Aerie. The Cooks’ House chefs, Jennifer Blakeslee and Eric Patterson, are James Beard Award nominees in the Great Lakes division.
