MI Winter Storm To Bring Snowfall, Ice Accumulations
Forecasters warned the freezing rain could create slippery conditions for Thursday morning's commute across southeastern Michigan.
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — A wintry mix is expected across southeastern Michigan late Wednesday and overnight into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
As of Wednesday morning, a winter weather advisory was set to go into effect from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday for Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.
Light snow will move into the region sometime around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the weather service.

The snow will then transition into sleet and freezing rain just after midnight, mainly affecting areas south of Michigan 59, according to the weather service.
The wet weather will move out of the southeastern Michigan region by 7 a.m. Thursday, leaving behind slippery conditions for the morning's early commute, forecasters warned.

A tenth of an inch of ice is possible in the heart of the metro Detroit area, while areas farther south toward the Ohio border can see up to a quarter inch of ice, according to the weather service.
"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous," the NWS advisory said. "Plan on slippery road conditions."
Areas along and north of Michigan 59 will likely see more snowfall, which can accumulate up to 1 inch by Thursday morning, according to the weather service.
Areas in southern and southwest Michigan will also see an icy mix with "ice accumulations of a light glaze up to five hundredths of an inch," the weather service said.
Temperatures across southeastern Michigan will remain at or near freezing through at least next Tuesday, according to the weather service.
More snow and freezing rain is expected across southeastern Michigan on Saturday, with the rest of the week partly cloudy, according to the weather service.
