A woman was killed in a camping accident at a Michigan campground earlier this week, according to sheriff's officials.

GOGEBIC COUNTY, MI — A woman was killed in a camping accident at a Michigan campground earlier this week, according to sheriff's officials.

The incident happened at 3:26 p.m. Monday when officers were called to the Moosehead Lake Campground in Marenisco Township for an "unresponsive female who had been struck by a camper."

When officers arrived at the campground, they found the 65-year-old Roscommon woman pinned between a fifth-wheel camper and a truck, officials said.

Officials began CPR and other life-saving measures, but the woman died at the scene due to the severity of her injuries, officials said.

Officials did not release her name and were still investigating the incident.

The campground is located in the western half of the Upper Peninsula near the Wisconsin border.
