MI Woman Sentenced To Prison For Fatally Stabbing Husband

The incident happened in May at a northern Michigan home, officials said.

LAKE COUNTY, MI — A northern Michigan woman has been sentenced for fatally stabbing her husband 14 times, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.

Betsy K. McIntyre, 69, of Irons, was sentenced to 20-40 years after pleading guilty for second-degree murder.

Second-degree murder carries up to life in prison, but prosecutors agreed to the 20 to 40-year sentence in exchange for the guilty plea, officials said.

The incident happened on May 11 at a home in the 4000 block of West 9 Mile Road, in Eden Township where officers found a 69-year-old man dead inside a shed behind the house, officials said.

Officials said McIntyre called 911 and told dispatchers that she had killed her husband. She also threatened to harm herself if officers didn't respond soon, officials said.
