Michigan Reports Over 2,000 More Coronavirus Cases Monday

State health officials also reported that Michigan had added eight more COVID-19 deaths since Saturday.

MICHIGAN — Michigan has added more than 2,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus but fewer than 10 more COVID-19 deaths since Saturday, state health officials reported Monday.

Michigan reported 2,066 new cases of the coronavirus Monday, bringing the statewide total of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 561,307, according to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services data.

The state also reported eight more COVID-19 deaths Monday, growing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 14,609, according to state data.

Monday's updated coronavirus figures were reported shortly after the state announced 35 new outbreaks of the coronavirus had been reported in schools around the state. Of note, the largest outbreak (20 cases) of the virus was reported in the Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium, Keweenaw in Houghton County. Eaton County reported the most outbreaks Monday with five.

Monday also was the day when indoor dining at Michigan eateries and bars would once again be permitted — albeit with some restrictions and limitations in place.
