One district in the state is officially banning the use of cell phones during school hours. Do you agree?

MICHIGAN — A school district in Michigan is in the midst of banning all cell phones during school hours, according to reports.

A school district in western Michigan is banning cellphones during school hours.

The Forest Hills district near Grand Rapids is allowing students to keep the cell phones in their lockers, but not on them during school hours ... The district says it's "clear that excessive exposure to cellphones has a negative effect" on kids, WXYZ reported.

The district points to a school phone in case students need to get in touch with a parent. Students also have computer access for the internet.

District leaders said cell phones have been a problem with the students, especially the anxiety from posts on social media, the report said.

Assistant Superintendent Christine Annese tells WOOD-TV that a parent advisory committee approved the plan. Forest Hills has more than 15 schools, including three high schools.
