Not one but two tornadoes hit Michigan Thursday evening. Here's what we know so far about the damage.
MICHIGAN — More than 70 homes and businesses were damaged Thursday evening across Mid-Michigan as two different tornadoes ripped through the area, police said.
The Michigan State Police in the bay region said they are continuing to assess the situation as of Friday and that “troopers remind citizens to stay away from downed lines and to not place yourself in harms way by entering damaged structures.
The tornadoes touched down in the town of Vernon in Shiawassee County.

The Detroit Free Press reported that local meteorologists put the tornados at around an EF1 or EF2 for the stronger of the two and an EF0 or EF1 for the weaker of the two. That’s on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which ranks tornado intensity from EF0 to EF5.
More detailed information will come once the National Weather Service storm survey is completed, the report said.
